Writing Isn’t Just for Writers. It’s for Everyone.
You don’t have to call yourself a writer to write.
You don’t need a publisher or a perfect outline.
You don’t need to be the best in your class or the fastest on a keyboard.
You just need a story. And a little bit of courage.
And we all have a story. We have a ton of stories. So, so many stories.
I’ve seen what happens when people pick up a pen and start by saying yes.
A twelve-year-old who never thought of herself as a writer finishes a novel — and starts calling herself an author.
A newly retired grandfather jots down a memory for his grandkids — and realizes it’s actually a legacy.
A woman in her forties walks into one of our retreats overwhelmed and unsure — and walks out three chapters into a story she never thought was important.
This is why I believe in writing for everyone.
Writing doesn’t care how old you are.
It doesn’t care about grammar.
It doesn’t care if your hands shake when you start.
It doesn’t even care if you’ve never done it before and you’ve already decided you stink.
Writing isn’t about perfection.
It’s about permission.
It’s about presence.
It’s about telling the truth—even if it’s messy.
Even if it’s tiny.
That’s why I built A Novel Idea:
To create spaces where writing feels less like performance and more like possibility.
Not everyone wants to publish a book.
But everyone deserves the chance to find their voice.
Whether you're 9 or 90—
Whether you're chasing a long-held dream or just curious where the words might take you—
There is room for your story.
I believe deeply in the power of writing:
To heal.
To connect.
To remind us who we are.
And I believe that when we write together—in community, across generations—something sacred happens.
If you’ve got a story in you (even a tiny one), I hope you’ll write it down.
And if you want company along the way, I’d be honored to write beside you.
